John Michael Kemp (1937-2018) of Summerland, BC passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018 at the age of 80 after a stay in Penticton Regional Hospital. 

He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Ann of 56 years; son Michael (Blanche) Kemp; daughter Patricia (Dwayne) Johnson; grandchildren Erin, Brandon, Brianni, and Brett; and great grandchildren Jayden, Bentley, Victoria, and Mavrick. John was predeceased by his parents James and Annie Kemp and his brother David.

John lived and married in England before immigrating to Canada with Ann and his children in 1969. He spent his career as an insurance underwriter and had also been a school board trustee in North Vancouver, BC and an alderman in Golden, BC. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Summerland and SOWTS. He had many hobbies including golf, curling, world travels, gardening, and reading.  He had a lifelong passion for steam trains and model railway building. 

John was a very intelligent, quiet, kind, and gentle man with a dry British sense of humor. His family was loved and very important to him.

His Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. on May 10, 2018 at St. Stephen Anglican Church, 9311 Prairie Valley Rd., Summerland, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation, 550 Carmi Ave., Penticton, BC V2A 3G6  for the Penticton Regional Hospital Patient Care Tower.
