Joaquim “Jack” Sardinha
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather in Summerland on May 9, 2011 at the age of 77. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by Maria, his wife of 53 years, daughter Ilda (Kevin) Kang of Kamloops, BC and son Joe (Julie) Sardinha of Summerland. Jack was very proud of his six grandchildren; Kristopher, Angela, Nicholas and Genevieve Kang and Brian and Katie Sardinha. Jack was born is Silvares, Portugal November 9, 1933 and immigrated to Canada April 5, 1965 with his wife and two young children. Over the years he enjoyed many trips back to visit family and friends in his native Portugal. His greatest passion was working in the orchard which he and Maria purchased in Summerland in 1972. Jack also enjoyed fishing, camping, making wine and spending time with his family. In his later years, even though officially retired, little could keep him from helping his son manage the orchard. Prayers will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 at 7:00 pm, followed by Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11:00 am, at the Church of the Holy Child, 14010 Rosedale Avenue, Summerland, BC, with Celebrant Father Ferdinan Nalitan.
