In Loving Memory
Joan Ellen van Nieuwkerk passed away peacefully with her family by her side on August 20, 2011 at the age of 79 years. She will be remembered by her four children: Carla Richert of Penticton, Jacqueline Cimbaro (John) of Princeton, Adrian van Nieuwkerk (Christine) of West Kelowna and Roger van Nieuwkerk (Alexis) of Cowichan Bay, her eight grandchildren: Jonathan, Sarah, Mark, Nicholas, Alex, Mikhail, Savanah and Tessa and her great grandchild Arwynn. She was sadly predeceased by her husband, Ivor Stuart van Nieuwkerk, who passed away in 1970. Joan was a long-time resident of Trout Creek, Summerland and was deeply respected for her work for many years as a Social Worker for the Penticton Mental Health Centre. She was a wonderful mother to her four children and loved raising her family in the Okanagan. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbours.
A Memorial Service was held Friday August 26th at the Summerland Baptist Church.
