Joan Margaret Guldner (nee Dunlop), a long-time resident of Summerland, passed away peacefully at the age of eighty-nine following a brief illness surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.

Joan will be dearly missed by her son, John Guldner, daughter, Christine Clark (Doug), grandson, Brian (Robin), granddaughter Shannon (Rob), and a great granddaughter and two great grandsons.

She was predeceased by her husband John in 2006, and her sister, Dorothy.

Joan was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1929 to Stella and Russell Dunlop. She met the love of her life, John, in Bragg Creek at the dance hall, and they enjoyed a life-long love of downhill skiing, canoeing, hiking, and camping. Joan moved to Yellowknife in 1967, and then to Whitehorse, where she met many, long-time, northern friends.

After moving to Salmon Arm, Joan and John built a house overlooking Shuswap Lake. Joan worked for BC Hydro for many years. When she retired, they moved to Summerland where her grandmother had lived.

Joan loved life, and was always cheerful with a smile on her face. She was interested in people, loved her dogs, going to Recope, walking, and visiting with her many friends. She was a Friday person in a Monday world. A special thanks to the many compassionate Homecare workers who supported Joan.

No service by request. Donations in Joan's name can be made to the SPCA.
