March 5, 1929 - June 30, 2011

Jerry was born in Rathwell, Manitoba and passed away at the age of 82 at Hospice House, Penticton, BC after a lengthy battle with cancer and dementia. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anne, daughters Carol Lynn and Barbara Ann, sister Alice Decruyenaere of White Rock, BC, sisters-in-laws Ruth Wallie of Winnipeg, MB, Nancy (Paul) Pelland of Auburn Washington, nieces and nephews Tom (Barbara) Decruyenaere of Surrey, BC, Jim Decruyenaere of White Rock, BC, Carol (Gord) Legge of Winnipeg, MB, Nancy (Gordon) Lee of Terrace, BC. Predeceased by brothers-in-laws Bill Wallie and George Decruyenaere. After graduating from the University of Manitoba in 1951, Jerry was employed by the CNR as a civil engineer until he retired in 1989. He was also a member of the Association of Professional Engineers. Jerry and Anne moved to Summerland, BC in 1990 where Jerry enjoyed curling, umpiring for the local seniors baseball league and was a Kiwanis member until his illness prevented his participation. He loved to work in the yard and spent much of his time outside. Many thanks to Dr. M. Lawrie, the doctors and nurses of Penticton Hospital Ambulatory Care & Emergency, as well as the Hospice & Home Care nurses. Thank you to all our wonderful neighbours for all their kindness and support. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Friday, July 8th, 2011 at 1:30 pm at Summerland Funeral Home, 13205 Rosedale Avenue, Summerland, BC.
