Jaroslaw Jelen was born on September 14th, 1943 in POLAND. He passed away at home with his wife by his side on September 14th, 2011 at the age of 68. Remembered by his loving wife, Alicja, his son Marek, daughter in-law Helena, grandchildren Patrick and Michelle and many nieces and nephews in Poland. His interests included ballroom dancing, hiking and building projects. In addition he loved sporting activities such as downhill skiing, tennis and his biggest passion - swimming. He belonged to Summerland Orca Swim Club where he practiced and perfected his swimming techniques, took part in various swimming competitions on local, provincial and national level. In recognition of Jaroslaw’s passion for swimming, a bursary for young swimmers will be set up in his name at the Summerland Orca Swim Club. Prayers were held on Sunday, September 18th, 2011 at 7:00 PM followed by Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 19th, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Church of the Holy Child, 14010 Rosedale Avenue, Summerland BC.
