PORRITT, JEAN Passed away peacefully at the Summerland Extended Care on Jan. 11, 2008 at the age of eighty seven. Jean was much loved by her husband, Dr. Stanley Porritt (predeceased 2002) and her surviving daughters, Marjorie (Rod) of Penticton; Barbara (Gary) of Kelowna; and Anne (Rob) of Prince George. Her grandchildren, Jeremy, Kimberly, Michael, Matthew, Chris, and Kelly all have fond memories of their visits with their grandparents at their home in Summerland. She became a registered nurse after graduating from Saskatoon City Hospital in 1941. During WW II Jean took care of the troops both overseas and in northern British Columbia. Jean was a compassionate caring woman with an wonderful sense of humour. These qualities along with a non-judgmental acceptance allowed her to make many lifelong friends. She will be remembered with love and affection by all of her family and friends. A special thanks goes to the staff of the Summerland ECU for their personalized caring over the last several years. A memorial gathering will be held at a future date. Condolences may be directed to the family by pfchapel@vip.net. Providence Funeral Homes entrusted with care of arrangements.
