Jack CARLSON

August 16, 2008

Jack Erland Carlson. It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we send this message. After a brief battle with cancer, Jack suddenly passed away on Saturday, August 16th, 2008, at the age of 64 years, in the arms of his wife and best friend, Jackie. He is survived by: his loving wife, Jackie; 3 children: Randy (Karen) Carlson of Nanaimo, BC; Christine (Andy) Banks of Osoyoos, BC; and Cameron Carlson of Edmonton, AB; 6 grandchildren: Josh, Jordie, Cody, Callum, Isla, and Kenzie; 4 brothers and sisters: Ann (Lee) Hodgson of Summerland, BC; Jane Carlson of Victoria, BC; Eric (Gwen) Carlson of Entwistle, AB; and Mac (Maryann) Carlson of Seba Beach, AB. Jack was sadly predeceased by his parents Jean and Erland, and his brother Sven. Jack was born and raised in Seba Beach, AB. He spent his youth delivering newspapers, swimming in the lake and working on his parents’ farm. He moved to Edmonton and became an electrician, a husband and a father. His love for Seba brought him back. Jack was an avid curler, snowmobiler, and camper. The love for the Okanagan initiated a move to the valley in 1980. His time spent here included boating, camping, curling, and golfing with family and friends. Many will remember their driving instructor. Many will remember how he helped with their electrical needs. Many will remember “The Whistler.” Jack loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, he loved his many good friends and he loved working for Bob. During his travels with Jackie the past few years, he visited 23 countries around the world – not bad for a young man! Jack is known to his family and friends as a generous, caring and gentle man. His beautiful eyes, head of white hair, wonderful smile and great sense of humour will never be forgotten. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 24th, 2008 at 3:00pm at the Lakeshore Racquet Club, 13607 South Lakeshore Drive, Summerland, BC. Memorial tributes may be made in Jack’s honour to Moog and Friends Hospice House, 1701 Government Street, Penticton, BC V2A 8J7 or Canadian Cancer Society, Summerland Unit, Box 174, Summerland, BC V0H 1Z0. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Providence Funeral Homes. Condolences may be directed to the family: summerlandfuneralhome@vip.net.
