Eden, Hilda Amelia of Summerland, BC born October 5, 1913, died peacefully at the Summerland Extended Care on October 12, 2007 at the age of 94 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Harvey M. Eden in September 1996. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Donna and Clair Eraut, Jim and Faye Eden, Brian and Jane Eden; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sisters Anne Bell, Gloria Stapels and brother-in-law Don Staples; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Pete and Eileen Eden and family; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shirley Eden Ells and Burnell Ells; nieces and nephews. Her sister Helen Tilbe, and brothers Herb, Ervin and John Lemke predeceased her. Hilda moved to Summerland with husband Harvey from Ogema, Saskatchewan in 1937. They owned and operated orchards on Eden Road and Giants Head Road. Hilda was an avid curler and square dancer. She enjoyed quilting, baking, cards - especially crib - and loved to entertain family and friends at her home and cottage. Hers was a life well lived, and we cherished her many years with us. The family would like to thank all the care givers who have cared for Hilda in her home and at the Sumerland Extended Care over the years. We are grateful for your kindness to her and to our family. A Celebration of Hilda’s Life will be held on Thursday, October 18 th, 2007 at 11:00 am from Summerland United Church, 13204 Henry Avenue, Summerland, BC with Rev. Kent Israel offi ciating. Interment to take place at Canyonview Cemetery. In Hilda’s honor, memorial tributes may be made to Summerland Extended Care Therapeutic Gardens.
