Heinz William Wartenberg of Summerland, passed away January 14, 2009 at the Penticton Regional Hospital after a stroke. He was born in Berlin, Germany on September 14, 1930 and moved to Prince Rupert, B.C. from 1955 to 1985. While living there, Heinz and his sons relaxed by fishing in the boat that he built. Heinz was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Summerland. He had quite a sense of humor and had a loving and positive attitude. He loved gardening, flowers and specially music which he would pass the time playing the accordian. Heinz was predeceased by this first wife, Vera and one of their son’s Frank. He is survived by his wife Barbara, son Michael and brother Helmut (Inga). His passing is also mourned by Barbara’s family: Lenard (Theone Geres) and their children, Matthew, Kristen and Anna (Matthew); and Bernice Moltzan and her children Melissa (Tyler), Nathan, Leah and Rick; and grandchildren Nathanial and Jacob. The funeral took place January 19th at 10:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran with Pastor Michael Colbeck officiating. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
