Gordon Edward McLellan CLANCY

It is with sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Gordon Edward McLellan Clancy, January 18, 2008. Gordon , an only child, was born in Semans, SK on October 24, 1929. He was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Alma Clancy. His is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Sharon (Ray Alcock), grandchildren Justin and Scott Ouellette, and son Sean (Leslie), and grandchildren Alexandra and Kyle. Gord met his beloved wife Shirley while attending University in Brandon and they were married in 1956. Gord started teaching in Keewatin, ON in 1960. During his career Gord took various courses and received his B.A. from Thunder Bay, ON. Gord was a member of the Teachers Federation, Lion’s Club, Legion, Heart & Stroke, and he dearly loved curling and belonged to the Keewatin Men’s Curling Club. His summers were spent swimming, fishing, golfing, gardening, sailing, boating and trailering across the country. In the winter he loved curling, cross country skiing and snow machining. He retired in 1989 from teaching and moved to Summerland, BC in 1992 and became very involved in the community. He became President of Lions Club and Heart & Stroke. He also belonged to the Curling Club, Dance Club and he always had time to help canvas for various organizations including Cancer Society and CNIB. He sold tickets everywhere he went! He and Shirley loved the theatre and enjoyed travelling together. Gord had a warm heart, always stopping to talk to people, and help out in any way he could. His love for nature and animals extended to feeding local birds and wildlife in his yard. Cremation has taken place. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the BC Heart & Stroke.
