Franciska “Frances” Swereda passed away peacefully on December 15, 2011 at the age of 86 years. Frances is survived by her son Brian Swereda, granddaughter Kim Dolen, grandson Clint Swereda and her brother Dr. Michael Roth of Hungary. Frances emigrated from Hungary to Canada in 1957 after much drama and hardship with the revolution. While working in Fort Nelson, Frances met her husband Harry Swereda and they were married in 1963. Frances worked in the hotel industry for most of her life in Fort Nelson, before retiring with Harry to Summerland some thirty years ago. Frances was predeceased by her husband Harry in July 2007, as well as two sisters and two brothers of Hungary and Germany. In Summerland, Frances was active in senior circles and for years she was a devoted worker at the Summerland Thrift Shop. Her love of life included gardening and cooking, as well as helping friends and neighbours. She was a caring and generous person. A celebration of Frances’ Life was held on December 21, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Summerland Baptist Church, 10318 Elliott Street, Summerland, BC with Pastor Larry Schram officiating.
