FLORENCE MARGARET HARBOR (MUELLER)

January 14, 2017

Florence Margaret Harbor (Mueller)

April 22, 1927 - January 14, 2017

Florence was born April 22, 1927 in Prince George, BC. She spent her childhood on a homestead in Longworth, BC with her parents and her sister Evelyn. She later graduated from Kelowna Secondary School. In 1945 she met Stan on a train in Blue River, BC. They were married September 18, 1948. Florence spoke fondly of her seven years working at the Royal Bank in Vancouver where she was a loans supervisor. Soon Florence’s focus became her family. The arrival of seven children didn’t allow much free time, but she did enjoy square dancing and volunteering with the Catholic Women’s League. In 1975 her family settled in Summerland and there the family home became the gathering place for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren over the next four decades. In addition to raising her own family, she provided daycare for grandchildren and many others. One could always count on her welcoming smile and open heart upon arriving on her doorstep. Florence was known for her devotion to her family, her kind and gentle nature and her thoughtfulness of all those around her. She had a generous and loving spirit.

Florence will be greatly missed by her loving husband and constant companion of 70 years, Stan Harbor of Summerland, their seven children: Craig Harbor of Dawson City, Cindy Harbor (Jordan) of Upper Hat Creek, Blake Harbor (Amanda) of Summerland, Len Harbor (Jen) of West Kelowna, Bruce Harbor of Penticton, Lorne Harbor (Amie) of Summerland, and Elaine Duncan (Gordy) of 70 Mile House; her sister Evelyn (Wally) of Armstrong, grandchildren Ryan, Julien, Zoe, Nina, Kai, Acacia, Miha, Catalina, Zachary, Hannah, Alex, Sam, and Noah as well as great granddaughters Arden, Brilyn, Emerence, Kaiya and Ksenia. Florence was predeceased by her parents Edward and Margaret Mueller (nee Ketter) of Quesnel.

Sincere gratitude goes to the caring staff at Summerland Senior’s Village who welcomed Florence like a friend and made her feel at home during her short stay there. The Funeral Service will be held January 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Providence’s Summerland Chapel, 13205 Rosedale Ave., Summerland, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant House Vancouver, 575 Drake St., Vancouver, BC V6B 4K8.
