Elsie Alma Banford passed away peacefully at Dr. Andrew Pavilion on Saturday, August 27, 2016.
Elsie was born in Poland on October 6, 1928 and moved to Herbert, Saskatchewan with her six brothers and sisters when she was a young child. Following high school graduation, she took a job at Sears in Regina, Saskatchewan where she met the love of her life, James Thomas Banford. They were married on October 30, 1948 and remained together until his passing on December 20, 2012. Elsie loved camping, fishing, traveling, reading and especially flowers. She was predeceased by her three brothers and three sisters and is survived by sons, Tom Banford (Jolene) Chesapeake, Virginia, Barry Banford (Marcia) Clearwater, BC, daughter, Melanie Love (Harley) Westbank, BC. and 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. The family would like to extent a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Dr. Andrew Pavilion for the excellent care they provided our mother over the last 10 years. The compassion, friendship, kindness and respect they showed Mom will always be remembered. We would also like to acknowledge Dr. Murali Venkatarman for the exceptional patience and understanding he demonstrated towards our parents over many years. A service will be held at the Summerland Alliance Church, 14812 North Victoria Road, on September 13, 2016 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Summerland Alliance Church.
