ELSIE ALISON JACQUES

Elsie Alison Jacques (nee Hack) passed away on December 16, 2011 in Moog and Friends Hospice House, following a year-long battle with cancer. Born on October 7, 1934, Elsie moved with her family to Summerland in 1937. She graduated from Summerland High School in 1952 and went on to complete nursing training at Vancouver General Hospital and a B.Sc. in Nursing at the University of Washington. Elsie worked as a public health nurse, mainly in the Prince George and Vernon areas, until 1968, when she married Arthur Jacques. She was very active in the Summerland United Church and was one of the founding “grandmas” of Mother’s Morning Out. Elsie was an avid reader and gardener who enjoyed traveling and camping. She passed away on the same afternoon as Art, her husband of 43 years and will be remembered and missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her son Tom of Summerland, daughter Alison (Bill) of Montreal, grandson Max, and sister Nancy Hack of Penticton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Jim (Eileen) Hack of Summerland, brother Dennis (Doreen) Hack of Penticton, and brother George (Alda) Hack of Vancouver. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Summerland United Church, 13204 Henry Avenue, Summerland, BC.
