Ella Lapins (nee Vitolins) passed away peacefully March 28, 2010 in W. Kelowna, B.C. at the age of 94 years. Predeceased by her loving husband and soulmate of 71 years on October 1, 2004. Dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Ruta, son-in-law Einars, grandson Martin, friends and relatives. Ella was born in Latvia, graduated there from Agricultural College, left her homeland as a refugee in 1944 and arrived in Canada in 1949. She lived for many years in Summerland, then in Toronto, and later she returned to her beloved Okanagan Valley. She worked hard as a helpmate to her scientist husband Karlis, she was a devoted and loving mother and a friend whose kindness and generosity knew no bounds. Her passions were the music of Bach, her garden, and weaving traditional wall hangings. A private family memorial will be held at a later date and her remains will be returned to Latvia. The family wishes to thank the staff at Pine Acres Home for their kindness and excellent care. Arrangements have been entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services.
