HANBURY, DOUGLAS CLAYTON of Summerland, passed away peacefully at his residence with family by his side on November 26, 2008 at the age of 86 years. Doug is lovingly remembered by his wife Lois of 46 years. He is also survived by six children; Bruce, Charlie, David, Kevin, Laura, Jasminda and Nancy; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild and sister Valmai. Doug spent most of his life in military service and was a veteran of World War II. Upon leaving the military Doug worked in the Hotel business and became known as the Commander of the Eldorado Arms Hotel in Kelowna. Doug moved to Victoria and became the Comptroller of the Government House until his retirement in 1989. Doug was friend to all who knew him and will be remembered for his great smile and sense of humour. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Rosedale Memorial Chapel of Summerland Funeral Home, 13205 Rosedale Avenue.
