DOROTHY GRACE MILLER (WELLWOOD)

January 30, 2017

Dorothy Grace Miller (Wellwood) went to be with her Lord January 30, 2017. Dorothy was born November 5, 1920 in Asquith, SK. Being from a large farming family, in her early 20’s she decided to move to Victoria to work. Her brother was living in Summerland so Dorothy came to visit for Thanksgiving. She met Percy Miller that weekend and it was love at first sight. They were engaged at Christmas that year, married the following Easter and were married for 65 years until Percy’s passing in 2010. Her deep faith was what gave her peace and strength through times of joy and struggle.

Dorothy loved to serve. Her family, friends and strangers were recipients of her delicious fruit pies and meals. She was happiest when her home was full of grandkids and great grandkids and would go to great lengths to get family together. She also served by cooking for kids at summer Bible camps, teaching Sunday School and providing childcare for ladies’ Bible study groups. Dorothy loved music and was a member of several choirs. From age 70 to 85 she took up curling and enjoyed the competition. She loved words and books and was an avid reader and Scrabble player.

Dorothy is survived by her sons George (Marjorie) and Fred; daughters Darlene(Mac) Butler, Barbara (Ed) Damour, Pat Manke, and Sue (Gary) Demerse; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Summerland Baptist Church, 10318 Elliott St., Summerland, BC. Interment at Canyonview Cemetery.
