We are deeply saddened to pass along to all of Don’s friends and acquaintances that Don passed away peacefully in Summerland on March 27, 2011. He was born in Vancouver on Jan. 4, 1924. Don spent his youth in Creston B.C. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942 and was posted overseas on D-Day. Don married Muriel Mann in 1947 in Creston. Don was predeceased by Muriel and later, in 1985, he married Jean Hayes. Don is survived by his wife Jean, his three children Don (Linda), Sharon Webster (Dave) and Larry, three brothers Lew(Iva), Chuck(Elaine) and Bob(Lois), three step-children(Colleen, Laurie and Pat Hayes), nine grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Throughout his life, Don and family resided in several B.C. communities. Their homes included Vancouver, Creston, Riondel, Fruitvale, Trail, Burnaby, N.Delta, Surrey and Summerland. Don was very proud of his family and, as a senior, spent many hours helping others with a variety of personal needs. Since 1958 he devoted considerable time to serving as a member of the Mason’s (Kaslo). Don’s immediate family is very appreciative of the excellent care and attention he received, from staff at the Summerland Senior’s Village, during the final months of his life. At Don’s request, there will not be a service. A celebration of his life event will be announced at a later date for close friends and family. Donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation in his memory.
