David Harvey Wright of Summerland, in his 77th year, passed away peacefully August 15th, 2008 at Vancouver General Hospital with his family at his side. Lovingly remembered by: his wife of 54 years, Beverley and sister Verna (Chuck) Cadieux, his children: Debbie (Ken) Selkirk, James Wright, Lynne (Matthew) Arrott, Cheryl Wright, Michael (Sandra) Wright. 5 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Dave will be remembered for his many contributions to the community, and his love for family and friends. He was raised in Summerland from the age of 5 and returned in 1975, after several years with the Hudson Bay Company. He owned Wright Shoes Ltd. for 15 years, retiring in 1990. He is most notably recognized for his many years of service to numerous community organizations, which included the Chamber of Commerce and the Retail Merchant Association. He was a long standing volunteer of the Heart and Stroke Foundation and he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He spent several years on the Parkdale board. He was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club and Chairman of the Kiwanis Lodge, these being his greatest passions. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 21st, 2008 at 1:00pm, at Summerland United Church, 13204 Henry Avenue, Summerland, BC with Reverend Kent Israel officiating.
