It is with incredible sadness and grief that I announce the passing of my son David Hancock on April 7th, 2018 at home watching TV with his prized possessions on the coffee table - his full Tim's cup (black, 3 sugars), his Calgary Flames hat, and his many lighters and cigarette cases. He rested his eyes one last time.
Dave had a tough go from the start having had a stroke at birth. In the last few years of his life he endured much pain and he wasn't always able to be himself, but his unique, off colour, and blunt humour would come out in the most surprising ways. All Dave ever wanted from life was to be one of the guys and he was happiest with a smoke and a beer, going off to the Legion on Wednesdays, and hanging out with his buddy.
Dave got one last chance to have a few beers with his friend and for that, J.J., I will be forever grateful. It meant so much to him and nothing was going to stop him from going. Although he tried to hide it, Dave truly had a kind heart. He tried his best to be a polite and honest person and if he owed you money, he made sure to pay it back. He worked hard to show the world that he was an independent, strong man and a bit of a rebel.
He loved animals and idolized his big brother. I will so miss telling my Dave, "Stay out of trouble" and his answer back, always the same, "OK, I won't!". In the last few years, he picked up an expression that he used often, "The good news is, you'll get over it." Well, my son, I truly don't think that I will. I love you so much and hope that you are out of pain, having a smoke, and an Old Mil with your Nanna and Grampie and that you are staying out of trouble.

David leaves behind many people: his mom, brother, nieces, cousins, many uncles, aunt, dad, Gramma S., and friends to grieve the loss of him and all that he wanted to be.
"Rest in peace and don't drink too much; it's not good for you!"
