February 20, 1944 - December 7, 2021
Bruce Bleackley, 77, of Summerland British Columbia, peacefully passed away on December 7 after many years of living with COPD. Bruce was born on February 20, 1944, to James and Lila Bleackley in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. After high school, he went on to study at trade school. After graduation, he landed his first job for the Ministry of Highways for three years. This kickstarted a career in welding, during which he ran independent businesses that provided steel architecture and motor vehicle framing throughout the West Coast of Canada and the Pacific Northwest of the United States. In 1963, he met Paulette Theroux and they wed in 1965, going on to have three children, Brian, Kathy, and Shelley Angela. Bruce was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive father. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family. Bruce was passionate about nature and the outdoors, spending his vacations and retirement camping, fishing, cycling, and off-roading. He enjoyed many winters of his retirement in Arizona and visiting his daughters in California. Two years after his first wife Paulette passed, Bruce met his great love, Megan Perry. After a whirlwind romance, they married and blended their two families. They enjoyed years together with Bruce's children and Megan's children, Ian and Janet, and their grandchildren Lane, Alex, Ian, Emma, Mia, Ellie, and Owen. Bruce leaves behind wife Megan and children Brian, Kathy, Shelley Angela, Ian, and Janet, and his grandchildren. Services will be held in the spring of 2022, and the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Penticton Hospital.
