BRENDA JEANNE GREEN

On October 12, 2011, BRENDA JEANNE GREEN - friend, mother, daughter, sister, partner, teacher, mentor, confidant, dancer, therapist, painter, and so much more -- stretched the wings that we all knew she had from day one.

She was born December 16, 1949 in Kelowna, B.C. where she also spent her childhood. After marriage, she moved around B.C. before finally settling on Summerland, her home of over 37 years. Her smiles graced the halls of Summerland Secondary School where she followed her passion for helping teens as an ALT (special needs Teacher). There, she will be missed by generations of students whose lives she touched, by teachers who respected her, and by those that she cared for, and that loved her for her help, generosity, kindness, and endless patience.

She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her sons Kelly Aaron Green and his wife Seiko, Korey Ryan Green and his wife Kyoko, mother Martha Winnifred Ward, brothers John Barton Ward and his wife Susan, and Allan Michael Ward and his wife Laurel, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, and her beloved friend and partner of over 10 years Helmut Clermont, who stayed by her side each day to comfort and support all through her ordeal.

Her passing was preceded by the passing of her brother Daniel George Ward.

With love, gratitude, and a good measure of sadness do we let her go to a happier place -- gone too soon for our liking, but a management position must have opened up there, and she was the one most qualified.

As per her wishes, there will not be a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
