Arthur Wayne (Dr.) Amundsen passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 7, 2011 at the age of 83 years. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Patricia Ellen; children Linda (Ted) Pepperdine of Summerland BC, Larry (Beverly) Amundsen of North Vancouver BC, Patrick Amundsen of Summerland BC, Beth Amundsen of Calgary AB, Gail (Murray Church) Amundsen of Tsawwassen BC; grandchildren Michael, Jeffrey, Scott, Christy, Clea, Briac, Roger, Jordan, Dawson and Hailey; brothers and sisters Iris Bales of Toronto ON, Betty (Jim) Milne of Invermere BC, Joan (George) Simpson of Calgary AB, Shirley (Nap) Ruzesky of Peachland BC. Sadly predeceased by parents Adolph and Julia Amundsen, brothers Roy Amundsen and Owen Amundsen, sister Audrey Scaman and son-in-law Robert Hill. Wayne was born in Claresholm AB in 1928, the sixth child in a family of eight. He graduated from the University of Alberta in Dentistry. It was during this time, at his summer job in Lake Louise, that he met Patricia, the love of his life for 61 years. After a successful career in Calgary, Wayne and Patricia moved to Summerland (1980). Wayne was very involved in the Rotary Club and the Parkdale Place Housing Society. He was named Summerland Citizen of the Year (2000) in recognition of his volunteer dentistry in many third-world countries. Wayne was loved by his family, friends, community and throughout the world. He had an amazing wonderful life and was an inspiration to all. A Celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 15th, 2011 at the Summerland United Church, 13204 Henry Avenue, Summerland, BC.
