Allan Arnold Warkentin

August 9, 1927 – September 28, 2018
Al Warkentin of Summerland, BC passed into the presence of Jesus on September 28th, 2018 at the age of 91. Al, born August 9th, 1927 the youngest of 12 children, moved with his family from the Prairies to Vancouver BC in 1941.

He had an adventurous spirit which lasted a lifetime. Whether homesteading, building, playing or telling a story or good joke, he did it all with a twinkle in his eye and a love of life, family and God. He particularly loved music and passed many happy hours working passionately on music for the various choirs he directed. He was a man of many talents and trades and worked as an electrician, corrections officer, furniture refinisher, to name a few. In recent years, he worked as a Summerland Thrift Store volunteer, which afforded many community friends and hours of fulfillment. His upbeat attitude and sense of humor were endearing qualities to those his life touched.

Al will be greatly missed by the love of his life, Lynn, to whom he was married for 68 years, his 3 daughters, Gloria, Debra and Melody, their spouses, along with 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Al left this verse to give us assurance. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”IITim4:7 As he said in his own words,”I’m going to my forever home”.

We will celebrate a life well-lived at a later date when the family is able to gather. Date will be posted.
