Aimee was born in Vancouver, BC, August 18, 1915. The second child of Reginald and Fanny Eckersley. She passed away on April 26, 2011 at the Dr. Andrews Pavilion in Summerland. Aimee was predeceased by her parents, her brother Reginald, her daughter Audrey Patricia Noble (Harold) in 1974, her husband Gordon James Beggs (Rotary Beach Park) in 1994 and her grandson Douglas Yelle in 2004. She is survived by her children Ann (George) Yelle, of Nanaimo, Joan Ellis, Ken (Linda Palmer), Joe (Judith) all of Summerland, Janice (Gerald) McLeod, of Brackendale, BC and Lee (Fred) Parent, of West Kelowna. Aimee had 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Aimee arrived in Summerland aboard the Sicamous steamer when she was 6 years old. The family resided in Summerland (now Lakeside), they later lived on an orchard around Giant’s Head. She graduated from Summerland High School in 1933. Aimee worked as a telephone operator for Okanagan Telephone. She married her high school sweetheart, Gordon in 1937. After her marriage she became a full time mother. She and Gordon farmed and operated Beggs Fruit Stand for many years. In her younger years, Aimee was active in the badminton club, curling club and she was an avid golfer. She was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as treasurer for many years. The passing of this matriarch of a large pioneer Summerland family marks a new era in all our lives. The family would like to thank the staffs of Comfort Living and the Dr. Andrews Pavilion for the wonderful care our mother received the last 2 years. At Aimee’s request there will be no service. Anyone so wishing, may donate to a charity of their choice in her name. Condolences may be directed to the family through providencefuneralhomes.com. Providence Funeral Homes
