A woman already in police custody was re-arrested for using her excrement to write on a cell wall.

The woman was in custody at the Salmon Arm detachment on Sept. 19 for being intoxicated in public. Around 5 p.m., despite there being a toilet in her cell, police said the woman opted to defecate on the floor. The woman then picked up her excrement, placed it in a sock and used the faeces-filled footwear to write on a cell wall, explained Const. Andrew Hodges in a media release.

The woman was then re-arrested for mischief.

Hodges said the woman, when sober, was "released from cells later that night with her future court date."  He added the cell was professionally cleaned and disinfected the following day, and that the recommended charge of one count of mischief was forwarded to BC Prosecution for charge assessment.
