Wine writer John Schreiner was one of the judges at the wine fair on Saturday. The fair was held in conjunction with the Summerland Fall Fair.

Judges at the Summerland Wine Fair presented awards to numerous local wines on Saturday.

The award for Best in Show was a tie between Bonitas Winery 2008 Pinot Noir and Sonoran Estate Winery 2008 Ehrenfelser Ice Wine, both winning double gold.

Sumac Ridge Estate Winery 2010 Gewurztraminer won gold for best Summerland white wine under 10.0g/L RS (residual sugar)

Sumac Ridge Estate Winery 2006 Stellar’s Jay Brut won silver for best Summerland sparkling.

Sumac Ridge Estate Winery 2008 Black Sage Vineyards Merlot won silver for best Summerland single varietal red wine.

Sumac Ridge Estate Winery 2006 Pipe won silver for best Summerland port style wine.

Thornhaven Estates 2010 Gewurztraminer won silver for best Summerland white wine over 10.1g/L RS.

Thornhaven Estates 2008 Evolution won gold for best Summerland blended red.

Dirty Laundry Vineyard 2009 Cab-Merlot won silver for best Summerland blended red.

Sonoran Estate 2010 Riesling / Gewurztraminer won silver for best

Summerland white wine under 10.0g/L RS.

SummerGate Winery 2010 Kerner won gold for Best Summerland White over 10.1g/L RS.

Summerland Fall Fair People’s Choice Award was awarded to Andy and Diane Sarglepp from Heaven’s Gate Winery and the votes were split equally between their Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer.
