Snow on the Okanagan Connector

Soggy spring conditions may be challenging people in the valley bottom, but in the mountains there are an entirely different set of problems.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather alert for the Coquihalla Highway, from Merritt to Kamloops, and the Okanagan Connector, from Merritt to Kelowna.

“Freezing levels over the BC interior have dropped significantly in the wake of a cold front,” reads the alert. “Some highway passes can expect near or below freezing temperatures this morning. Precipitation may fall in the form of flurries over these passes this morning with a few centimetres of snow possible.”

DriveBC is reporting that it’s snowing already.

“(There are) slippery sections from Junction with Highway 5A, at Aspen Grove to Pennask Summitt,” reads the site.

Road conditions are available at www.drivebc.ca.
