Apex Mountain Road will be closed for approximately an hour in both directions for avalanche control today, Monday, Feb. 8.

The planned road closure is for Apex Mountain Road, near the ski slope. The closure is expected from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The road closure was actually planned for Sunday but was cancelled due to weather.

The local ski hills have been blessed with great conditions lately, with Apex getting more than 20 cm of snow overnight and more than 50 cm in the last 48 hours.

Locals came out in droves this weekend with the main chairlift lineups taking about 10 to 20 minutes to get on.

A whopping 120 centimetres of snow has fallen on Apex Mountain in the past five days.

That makes for some epic powder skiing and boarding at both Apex and Baldy Mountain last weekend and this week.
