A man will spend the next two years in prison for his involvement in a non-fatal shooting in January.

Harley Maxwell Mcbride pleaded guilty to possession of a loaded, restricted firearm and to break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence on Friday for the Jan. 9 shooting of a 24-year-old man.

Details from Friday’s court appearance are subject to a publication ban, as Mcbride’s two co-accused, Elkena Knauff and Lindsey Johnson, could take the issue to a jury trial.

Mcbride’s guilty plea to two charges meant skirting up to 13 more charges, including assault with a weapon and further firearms charges.

RCMP say they investigated a shooting on Jan. 9 at 1:20 a.m. in the 600 block of Martin Street.

Initial reports indicate two men entered the residence and confronted another man, ultimately leading to gunfire inside the residence.

Police said another report of a gunshot came in at 4:30 a.m. the same morning, that time in the 500 block of Eckhardt Avenue West.

Police linked the two shooting incidents, adding at the time that a 24-year-old man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries from the gunshots.

However, in court, Mcbride has two co-accused, indicating a third person connected to the incidents.

Mcbride was sentenced to 1032 days in jail, but with 302 days credit for time served, will be released in 730 days, making exactly two years.

It’s not clear at this point when Knauff or Johnson will be moving forward in court.
