Charges have been recommended for three people after Penticton RCMP’s Targeted Enforcement Unit made arrests for possession of stolen property, among other charges.

TEU officers spotted a blue 2003 Pontiac Montana van on Penticton Avenue at around 9:30 a.m. Monday. When the occupants of the vehicle saw the police car, they drove away, but were found again on Manitoba Street.

Three occupants left the car, with one man dropping a backpack. The three were chased down and arrested, with bolt cutters found in the backpack.

A woman was found to be in possession of suspected crystal meth at the scene.

The van, which bore two separate licence plates, was reported stolen from an Arnott Place residence in Penticton.

Police recommended charges of possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a vehicle and possession of break-in tools for a 33-year-old man, while the woman, 54, was recommended charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of stolen property.

A 32-year-old man was recommended two charges of possession of stolen property.

The woman and the 32-year-old man were released on a promise to appear, while the 33-year-old man was reportedly to make his first appearance before the courts on Tuesday.
