The municipality of Summerland is seeking grant funding for wildfire prevention and mitigation works near Summerland’s northwestern boundary.

The grant, through the Forest Enhancement Society of British Columbia, is for $342,000.

The work will take place on Crown lands around the Trapper’s Flats area of Summerland to reduce wildfire risks.

This project has been supported in principle by both the B.C. Ministry of Forests and the Penticton Indian Band.
