Summerland featured in Okanagan Historical Society publication

82nd edition of report includes three articles on Summerland’s history

The 2018 publication from the Okanagan Historical Society includes three articles about Summerland’s history.

These include a history of Trout Creek, by Mary Trainer, an article on the Monro family, by Carol Stathers and a story on the life of George Barclay, by David Gregory.

In addition, the 82nd edition of the historical society’s publication includes an article on Penticton’s Railway Roundhouse, by Joe Smuin, a Kettle Valley Railway historian.

Ken Tapping and Ken Murray have submitted an article on the Okanagan during the Ice Age.

Murray Roed has a summary of Okanagan geology.

Duane Thomson has an article on early cattle ranching.

The annual publication sells for $25, with $18 going to the Okanagan Historical Society and $7 to the Summerland branch of the society.

Those who purchase the book become members of the society.

This summer, the Okanagan Historical Society will once again provide history presentations at Okanagan Lake Provincial Park.
