The municipality of Summerland will hold an open house to present the draft plans for an arts facility.
The facility is in the former library building at 9545 Wharton St., which has been used as the arts centre since the fall of 2016.
In January, 2018, Sahuri and Associates Architecture Inc. was hired to redesign the facility to better serve the community as an arts and cultural centre.
The municipality has been working with representatives from user groups, the Summerland Community Arts Council and the Potters Guild to determine priorities for the renovations. The arts council and the Potters Guild will be the two core tenants in the renovated building.
The facility was built in 1981 to house the library. After the library branch moved to its present location on Main Street, the building became the arts centre for the community.
The open house will be held on June 26, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the arts centre. Architects will be present to share draft plans.
The municipality is seeking public comments in order to create a space to serve community needs.
