As the Penticton Indian Band (PIB) battles a COVID-19 outbreak that has left 12 people infected to date, the band and community have begun to show their support for PIB Healthcare workers.

The band has created a Facebook profile picture frame that people can use to show their support. The frame that says “thank you PIB Health Care Team,” was uploaded to Facebook Tuesday (Feb. 2).

“PIB Health Teams are doing a fabulous job of keeping PIB safe and by default, our surrounding communities safe,” said PIB communications co-ordinator Dawn Russell. “Our Health Team is encouraged by the public outreach.

“Many people, including those in leadership, are concerned about the potential for alienation of our members in the larger community. By showing wider public support for our community, it may ease the worry for many of us,” said Russell.

Russell hopes the profile picture frame will catch on not just with PIB but in all of Penticton to show their support to the PIB and their healthcare workers as they fight the virus.

In a Youtube video, Chief Greg Gabriel says the health team has been working tirelessly and thanked all of them for their dedication to keeping the community safe and containing the outbreak.

To add the photo frame to your profile go to facebook.com/profilepicframes and search “Thanks PIB Health.”
