The return of Peach Fest’s Grand Parade will come with significant road closures this Saturday in Penticton.
In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the Penticton Peach Festival is inviting all residents and visitors to attend the Grand Parade starting at Main Street and Eckhardt Avenue on Aug. 6, starting at 10 a.m.
The parade starts at Main and Eckhardt and moves north on Main before turning left on Wade Avenue, right on Winnipeg Street and left on Lakeshore Drive. No street parking is permitted along the route.
The parade will feature floats from across B.C. and Washington State, as well as marching bands, dancers, gymnasts, musicians, clubs, associations and clowns. A new Miss Penticton will be crowned prior to the start of the event and the Peach Fest Royalty will have their own float.
One person from each parade entry must register their attendance at the library between 7 and 9:30 a.m. After moving north on Main Street and turning left on Wade Avenue, the parade’s route will eventually wrap up at the Rose Garden.
The 75th Penticton Peach Festival will end the next day, Aug. 7, with a special performance from renowned British piano man Ben Waters from the Peter Bros. stage at Okanagan Lake Park.
