An evening accident saw traffic slowed as the northbound lanes of Main Street were temporarily closed Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to a reported collision in front of the RCMP detachment in Penticton just before 5 p.m. Two small SUVs collided in the intersection of Main Street and Nelson Avenue, with one of the vehicles ending up on the lawn of Casa Ouzeria restaurant.

No serious injuries were reported in the collision, but while crews were working on the scene, a passer-by found himself in handcuffs after walking past RCMP officers while smoking a joint.
