UPDATE: Power restored following outage in Summerland

High winds lead to unplanned outage

Electrical power has now been restored in the municipality of Summerland.

Around 600 properties in Summerland are without electrical power as a result of an unplanned power outage on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

The power outage is affecting properties in the Garnet Valley and Prairie Valley areas.

Devon van der Meulen of the municipality’s department of works and utilities said crews are out inspecting the damage and working to restore power to the affected areas.

The outage is due to high winds in the area.
