Planned maintenance knocks out power in northern Penticton Thursday

The power outage is expected to last until 1:30 p.m.

FortisBC customers in northern Penticton will be without power until about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday (Feb. 24).

Planned equipment maintenance will affect 400 customers, the energy company noted on its outage map.

An area off of Highway 97, just north of Burnaby Avenue and east of Red Wing Drive is confirmed to be around where the maintenance is taking place.

The company cites “important upgrades” to its electricity system as to why interruptions are occurring on Thursday morning.

People are asked to visit FortisBC’s outage map to learn more or view other potential power outages in the Okanagan.
