Penticton’s Skaha Marina and Sudbury Beach getting upgrades

A new boat launch and a better beach walkway are part of the projects underway

The City of Penticton is busy with two projects along Skaha Lake.

The Skaha Marina’s boat launch will be closed from Oct. 11 until Nov. 2, and the parking lot and access to Sudbury Beach was also briefly closed for repaving.

At the marina, the boat launch is being replaced with a wider and longer ramp in order to provide a safer launch site.

In order for the work to be done without impacting the lake, the boat launch has been closed and environmental controls put in place, including creating a silt barrier to prevent turbidity from leaching into the lake.

Once the old ramp is removed and the area excavated, the new concrete ramp pieces will be lowered in by crane.

At Sudbury Beach, the city is working on a beautification project and access improvements.

A sidewalk expansion is being built to provide safer walking access toward the beach.

New trees and bushes are being added as part of the project over the next few weeks.

While there won’t be any work done over the weekend of Oct. 1, crews and trucks will be in the area over the following week.
