The City of Penticton is looking to gather feedback from the public ahead of a multi-duplex development permit going to city council.
The application would see five three-storey duplexes built on the property at 770 Argyle Street, and would require changes to the city’s official community plan to accommodate the denser housing.
“This development proposal is a good example of how larger urban city lots can support increased density and help address the need for housing,” said Audrey Tanguay, a planning manager for Penticton. “We are looking forward to understanding the community’s thoughts about the vision for this property.”
Interested citizens are invited to learn more about what is being considered and share their feedback at shapeyourcitypenticton.ca before May 15.
Paper copies are also available at the Shape Your City kiosk at the Penticton Public Library.
The feedback received will be shared with city council, the community, as well as the developer.
In addition to the feedback forms, there will be an open house at the Penticton Library on April 23 from 10 a.m. to noon, and an online info session on May 5 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The online session requires registration through the shapeyourcitypenticton.ca website.
Following the engagement process, the proposal and feedback will be presented to council. If council grants the development application its first reading, a public hearing will follow.
