Much to Penticton’s delight, the Crazy Chilli-wack Corn Man is back with his ‘sweet, sweet ladies.’
With a wet, cold spring and dismal start to summer, it wasn’t known if the Corn Man would be back this year with his truck parked in the empty lot beside Wendy’s on Main Street.
But on Monday there he was with the back of his truck filled with corn. One taste of this year’s corn and it’s proving to be as sweet as ever.
“My name is the Crazy Chilly-wack Corn Man, Koo-Koo ka-chew. I come here with a truck full of sweet Chilliwack ladies,” he says wearing his signature sun hat. The Corn Man has quite the following in Penticton, with people taking to Facebook recently asking when and if he would arrive.
“I do this because of the people who live here, these are good people. I’ve been all around the world and this is the nicest place to live,” said Corn Man as people lined up to get his corn on Monday.

For 10 years, he’s been bringing corn up to the Okanagan from the same Chilliwack farm. He brought the corn to West Kelowna for seven years and for the last three he’s come to Penticton.
The only thing he can’t tell you is what days he’ll be there. It depends on how many times he will do the drive from Chilliwack to Penticton.
“Every time I can get corn from the field and every time I’m not too tired to make the drive. As many days as I can.”
