Well over a ton of food was donated at this year’s second Cram the Cruiser event Saturday at the Penticton Superstore location.

According to Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth the proceeds of the drive will go to the Salvation Army food bank.

“It was fantastic response and the generosity of the people of Penticton was outstanding, to get all this food in just four hours,” said Wrigglesworth, who was approached by Superstore management to host a event similar to the very successful one held in May. “For the Salvation Army this really helps out in times of need because no one wants see people and kids go hungry.

“It was really great seeing parents bring their kids to drop off food and explain to them there are other kids who are not as fortunate as they are.”

Along with representatives of the Salvation, Wrigglesworth and about a half dozen of the Penticton

RCMP volunteers donated their time.

In addition to the food, the public also made a significant cash donation to the cause.

“We really just want to thank everyone who helped make this such a success and to let them know just how much they have helped make this little part of the world a better place,” said Wrigglesworth.
