Penticton and Summerland continued to break their all-time temperature records on Wednesday, June 30.
Summerland saw its third consecutive day of record-breaking highs, while Penticton surpassed it’s third all-time mark in four days.
In the midst of an unprecedented heat wave, according to Environment Canada, the City of Penticton reached a high of 44.2 C.
That record temperature shattered the previous high of 42.7 C — only set on Monday, June 28.
Summerland was even hotter, registering a high of 44.7 C, and breaking the previous day’s mark of 42.8C.

Across the province, records were broken, although for the first time in several days, Lytton did not see the highest temperature in province, despite the wildfire that swept through the community.
The community has been reported to have almost completely been consumed by the fire, and some residents were injured in the blaze.

The title of hottest community went to Ashcroft for Wednesday, which saw temperatures as high as 47 C for the day.
Lytton continues to maintain the highest all-time temperature in Canada, which was set on Tuesday with a high of 47.9 C, hotter than even Las Vegas’ all-time record of 47.2C.
In the midst of the ongoing heatwave, Environment Canada has advised people to make sure they stay hydrated as best they can, to stay indoors or wherever its coolest and to check up on older friends and family to make sure they are hydrated as well.
