Patan seeks re-election to Summerland council

Incumbent has more than 20 years of local government experience

Doug Patan is running for re-election on Summerland’s municipal council.

He was first elected as a councillor in the 2018 local government election.

Patan and his wife Julie moved to Summerland in 2008. He has more than 20 years of municipal government experience. He retired in 2020 from the City of Kelowna as the building and permitting branch manager and chief building official.

In August, 2020 he took a position as branch manager with EMCO HVAC, a leading furnace, heat pump and air conditioning supplier. He is the council liaison for the Kettle Valley Railway, Municipal Insurance Association of British Columbia and the Summerland Chamber of Commerce.

Patan has taught B.C. Building Code at the Centre of Arts and Technology and is a member of the Building Officials Association of British Columbia.

He says his experience in dealing with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions gives him excellent skills in working collaboratively with citizens, business owners and government agencies.
