Osoyoos RCMP arrest man wanted on province-wide warrants

Osoyoos RCMP said tips from the public led to the arrest of a man wanted on eight province-wide warrants.

Sgt. Jason Bayda said Kael Austin Svendsen was arrested in Osoyoos at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday without incident. He has been remanded into custody at the Osoyoos RCMP detachment to appear in provincial court in Penticton on Nov. 26.

“The Osoyoos RCMP would like to thank those from the public that called in numerous tips over the last couple of days and provided information of his whereabouts. It is these tips that led to his arrest,” said Bayda.

Svendsen is facing charges of careless use of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm, one count of escape lawful custody, one count of theft under $5,000, one count of mischief under $5000, two counts of break and enter, two counts of assault, two counts of fraud under $5,000, two counts of breach of an undertaking and eight counts of possession of stolen property.
