UPDATE: Okanagan man says security camera recorded suspicious footage before deadly fire

Firefighters were called to a residential house fire in Penticton during the early hours of Feb. 10

UPDATE: 6:00 p.m.

Neighbours to the site of the 3 a.m. fire that claimed a man’s life on Feb. 10 say they saw two people walk by before the fire started.

Darryl Jones, who lives across the street and a house over, said his security camera recorded the suspicious footage.

Jones said he handed the past 36 hours of security footage over to the RCMP for further investigation and reviewed the moments leading up to the fire himself.

Jones and his wife Debbie said they have reason to believe that one of two dogs also perished in the fire.

They said the man who survived the fire escaped with singed hair and some burns, along with the other dog.

RCMP are not releasing the name of the deceased at this time.
