Now hiring: cannabis consultants in Penticton

Want to work as a cannabis consultant?

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch said they are hosting a job fair in Penticton to recruit employees for its BC Cannabis Store, set to open later this year at #7 – 2210 Main St (Penticton Power Centre mall). The job fair is on Tuesday, July 2 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Penticton Lakeside Resort and Conference.

The BC Public Service website states the position is for a store manager in cannabis operations with experience leading, directing, managing and training an operational team within a retail operation, among other experience. As well they are hiring for two assistant managers, six full-time cannabis consultants and eight part-time/auxiliary cannabis consultants.

While LDB recruiters will be collecting resumes at the event, all prospective candidates must submit their application via the LDB’s online portal at www.bcldb.com/about/careers to be considered. All employment opportunities for BC Cannabis Stores are posted at this site.

According to the BCLDB, successful candidates will receive extensive training, concentrating on social responsibility practices related to safety and responsible adult use, comprehensive product knowledge and customer service skills. Product knowledge and an understanding of the essential elements related to cannabis products and the industry are appreciated, but not required. Retail experience is also appreciated.

On June 18, Penticton city council approved four more cannabis retail stores, despite some council members taking issue with the location of one.
