The nomination deadline is approaching for the 80th annual Summerland Business and Community Excellence Awards, but so far, there have been no entries in the youth award category.

The deadline for nominations is Jan. 25 at 11:59 p.m.

Shaylyn Robertson, communications and membership coordinator for the chamber, said at present, around 50 nominations have been received.

The Excellence in Community Youth Leadership Award, new for this year, has not received any nominations so far, Robertson said.

This award is sponsored by NeighbourLink and is presented to a senior student in high school who has demonstrated exemplary dedication to the community through volunteer committees and youth leadership.

There are a total of 11 business awards and four community awards this year.

On Feb. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m., a nominees reception will be held at the Arena Banquet Room.

Voting for the award nominees will open on Feb. 7 and close on Feb. 20.

The awards ceremony will be held at Centre Stage Theatre on March 3 from 7 to 11 p.m.
